Karakteristik Penyakit Diabetes Melitus pada Pasien
Abstrak
Diabetes Mellitus (DM) is a chronic metabolic disease characterized by elevated blood glucose levels and remains a growing public health problem. This study aimed to describe the characteristics of patients with Diabetes Mellitus at Maccini Sawah Primary Health Center, Makassar, from January to October 2024. A retrospective descriptive observational design was applied using medical record data of 411 outpatient DM patients. Data were analyzed descriptively and presented as frequency distributions. The results showed that most DM patients were female and belonged to the elderly age group (65–75 years). In terms of nutritional status, the majority of patients were classified as obese or overweight. Most patients were non-smokers and reported irregular physical activity. The most common occupations were housewives/unemployed individuals, private employees, and self-employed workers. The monthly distribution of DM patients during the study period showed no significant increase or decrease. These findings emphasize the importance of promotive and preventive strategies, particularly weight management and increased physical activity among patients with Diabetes Mellitus.
